Best Cups For Toddlers

By JoannaPosted on March 16, 20245min read

As your child gets older, they become more active. And along with that, they seem to always be thirsty. So as they are toddling along, carrying their beloved sippy cup with them, they’re most likely dripping whatever liquid their cup contains as they go. You know, the supposed “leak proof” cup. Or your child’s thirst is just so unquenchable, it feels like you are refilling their cup over and over again. As a mom of 2, I’ve spent an embarrassing amount of money on different toddler cups, trying to find the best ones. I realize this is a common issue among toddler parents, and I hope to help you out in this crazy quest! So here is a list of all the best cups for toddlers.

Picture of a one year old toddler boy with short dark hair and dark eyes standing in a play yard outside. He is wearing a dark green t-shirt, black shorts, and red crocks. He is holding a blue water bottle with dinosaurs on it.

This list contains different types of cups for the different stages your child may be in. Whether your baby is just starting out using sippy cups, or you’re trying to find a durable, toddler proof cup, or you’re looking to skip sippy cups all together and you want to try out open trainer cups. You are bound to find something on this list that works for you and your little one!

The Best Leak-Proof Cups

1. Replay Sippy Cups

A pink, a lighter pink, a lime green, and a dark green plastic hard spout sippy cups for toddlers.

I will stand by these Replay Sippy Cups for a long time. These are by far the most leak-proof cups I’ve ever had. My kids have left them laying on the couch, tipped them completely upside-down, and thrown them across the room. They DO NOT LEAK! They are recycled from plastic milk jugs and are so sturdy. They are really easy to clean, and they come in SO many colors! These are my absolute favorite.

2. Nuk Fun Grips Sippy Cups

One blue and one mint colored Nuk hard spout sippy cup for babies and toddlers

I used these cups with my oldest. They’re a little cheaper than the Replay cups and worked really well. They were leak proof, however I found I had to replace the plastic piece you put in the cap every so often because they would rip after a while. Fortunately, you can replace just those pieces.

3. Tommee Tippee Sportee Bottle

Tommee Tippee Sportee Bottle cups for toddlers and babies. One blue and one orange cup.

The Tommee Tippee Sportee Bottle is another great leak-proof bottle. It’s easy for your toddler to hold and the silicone spout is great if your child is teething and has tender gums.

4. Contigo Kids Water Bottle

Two Contigo Kids water bottles. A red one with a cheetah design on it, and another one that is orange with a Toucan design on it.

These water bottles are what my kids use every single day. They are durable, hold a good amount of liquid, and leak-proof (as long as the seal ring is on properly). They also come in a ton of different designs. These are my go-to cups for traveling!

5. B.Box Sippy Cup

B.Box Straw sippy cup. and clear bottle with a dark blue cap. Has a straw with a weighted bottle so it can be held at any angle.

The b.box sippy cup truly doesn’t leak, and it’s unique because it you can drink from it from any angle. So it’s a great cup if your child is learning how to drink from straw cups.

The Best Starter Sippy Cups

5. Nuby 3 Piece No-Spill Grip N’ Sip Cup

a pack of three Nuby Grip 'N Sip sippy cups. An aqua, a grey, and a dark blue cup with a soft spout and handles.

The Nuby Sip ‘N Grip cups are great starter cup because of the soft spout and the handles makes them easier for your child to hold them. I used these cups for both of my kids when they first started to learn how to use sippy cups. While they aren’t very leak-proof, they both took to these kind of cups the best in the beginning.

6. Munchkin Bite-Proof Trainer Cup

Two Munchkin Bite-Proof trainer cups. A blue one and a green one, with handles.

Munchkin Trainer Cups are also a great choice because of the soft spout. It’s a great quality cup at an affordable price.

7. Nuby 3 Stage Bottle To Cup

Nuby 3 Stage Bottle to Cup. A blue cup with handles, and a bottle nipple, soft sippy cup spout, and a cover.

This Nuby 3 Stage Bottle to Cup is great because it give you a couple options for the spout. You can start out with the bottle spout, and then take time transitioning to the regular sippy cup spout. It also comes with a cover which is great for traveling.

The Best Transition Cups For Babies And Toddlers

If your toddler is ready to start drinking out of an open cup, or you want your baby to give it a try at meal times, these are some great cups to start with.

8. ez pz Tiny Cup

A small grey silicone open cup

The ez pz Tiny Cup is a great cup to start. It’s small, easy for little hands to hold it, and is made of silicone. It’s also designed by a pediatric feeding specialist which can be very reassuring!

9. Munchkin C’est Silicone Training Cup

A small mint green silicone cup with a white silicone lid and a silicone straw.

The Munchkin C’est Silicone Training Cup is very similar to the ez pz cup, but it also comes with a straw and lid. You have the choice of using it with or without the lid which is awesome!

10. Munchkin Miracle 360 Cup

A pink cup and a purple cup, with white lids, and matching inserts on top of the lids to keep them from spilling.

The Munchkin Miracle 360 Cups are great for learning how to drink out of an open cup. They drink out of it just like a regular cup anywhere around the lid. There is less spilling involved, and you have the option of getting lids for them as well. They are also very easy to clean.

The Best Water Bottles For Toddlers

When your toddler is always on the go, they are always thirsty! As my kids got a little older I wanted them to have a cup that held more liquid to make sure they stayed hydrated.

11. Contigo Kids Spill-Proof Tumbler

Two tumblers with lids and straws. One blue on with clouds, rainbows, and suns. And a red one with flowers.

My number one choice will always be the Contigo water bottles I mentioned above. However, these Contigo tumblers are durable, spill-proof, and hold a good amount of liquid. They are great quality cups that will handle whatever your toddler (literally) throws at them.

12. Zak Kids Water Bottle

A blue water bottle with dinosaurs on it, and a flip top cover that opens with a button.

Zak Kids Water Bottles are also a great size, relatively leak-proof, and also has a flip-top to protect the spout. Zak water bottles also has a lot of really cute designs to choose from, which makes it more fun for your toddler!

13. Goppus Kids Insulated Water Bottle

Five different water bottles with various designs on them, with a flip top cover that opens by pushing a button.

Goppus water bottles are insulated which will keep their drink nice and cold for a longer period of time. They also come with a lot of different designs, and you can choose from different size water bottles.

14. Simple Modern Stainless Steel Water Bottle

Five different water bottles with various designs. Spout folds open and closed and has a handle on the lid.

Simple Modern Stainless Steel water bottles are also a great insulated water bottle. They are great quality, and you can choose different sizes as well.

15. Simple Modern 16oz. Water Bottle

Black water bottle with pink unicorns on it and a pink lid. Spout folds open and closed and there is a handle on the lid.

This Simple Modern water bottle isn’t insulated like the one mentioned just before, but it is a little less expensive. It also holds 16 ounces as opposed to the usual 14 oz most water bottles hold.

And there you have it! This is my list of the best cups for toddlers. These toddler cups are tried and true, and you are bound to find something that works for your little one. Have fun with it and if they are old enough, let them pick out the design, too! That makes it more fun for them and they will be that much more excited to start using their new cups.
