One of the most common first foods for baby to try is bananas. They’re delicious, nutritious, and inexpensive. You can try the straightforward approach and just mash up a ripe banana with a fork until it’s mushy and then serve it just like that. It’s the easiest way, and I have certainly done this numerous times while in a pinch or crunched for time. But if you’re looking to try something just a little different, this is a great option and definitely a crowd pleaser.

I like to wait until I have a few bananas that have just ripened. Slice them in half the long way, place them on a lined baking sheet, and bake at 325 degrees for about 10 minutes.
Then I blend them in a blender or food processor, adding a little bit of water as I go, until the puree is nice and smooth. I also like to add a pinch of cinnamon sometimes. It’s good to spice things up for your baby!
A word of caution, the puree will brown a bit after storing in the fridge. It is perfectly normal and still safe to eat, it just may not look so pretty. If you want to avoid this, add a splash of lemon juice to the puree as you’re blending it.
You can store this puree in the fridge for up to 4 days in the fridge or 3 months in the freezer. I like to portion these out into 2 oz portions and freeze using a silicone mold. This way you thaw out as much or as little as you need.
